Where do I find my API key for integrations?

Hi everyone! I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but I've been trying to set up our first integration with QuickBooks and the instructions mention needing an API key, but I can't seem to find where that lives in the FieldPulse interface? I've clicked around in Settings and Account but I'm not seeing anything that says "API" or "Developer" or anything like that. Our previous system had it under a Developer tab but I don't see that here. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or maybe I don't have the right permissions? I'm the office manager and I can create users and set up notifications so I thought I would have access to everything, but maybe not? Anyway if someone could point me in the right direction I would really really appreciate it! We're trying to get this set up before our busy season starts in October. Thanks so much in advance!!

  • Hi Lindsey! Happy to help — and not a silly question at all.

Your API credentials are located in Settings → Integrations → API Access. You'll need Admin permissions to view this section, which it sounds like you should have as an office manager.

    Here's how to find it:

    1. Click your profile icon (top right) and select Account Settings
    2. In the left sidebar, choose Integrations
    3. Select the API Access tab
    4. Your API Key and API Secret will be displayed here

If you don't see the Integrations option in your sidebar, your account may be on a plan that doesn't include API access, or your permissions might need adjustment. In that case, reach out and we can get you sorted.

For QuickBooks specifically, you might also want to check out our QuickBooks connection guide — it covers authentication without needing to use the API directly if you prefer the native integration.

  • Oh my gosh thank you so much Priya! I found it! I was looking under Account Settings → Company Info which seemed like the logical place but I see now it's under the other Settings menu. I do have the API Access tab so I think we're good permission-wise. I copied the key and I'm going to try the QuickBooks setup now. I might be back with more questions lol but this was exactly what I needed. Really appreciate the quick response!

  • Heads up — when you're copying that key, make sure you grab both the key and the secret if the integration asks for it. Some older Zapier templates only need the key, but most direct integrations (including QuickBooks OAuth) need both. YMMV depending on which connection method you're using.

Also worth noting: if you regenerate your credentials later, any existing integrations will break until you update them with the new values. Something to keep in mind before you hit "rotate" by accident (ask me how I know Sweat smile).

  • Oh that's really good to know!! I definitely would have panicked if I rotated it and everything broke. Thank you for the warning! I'll make sure to save these somewhere safe before I start.
