Adding Notes, Photos, and Attachments to a Work Order
Work order documentation is captured through Notes, Photos, and File Attachments. These elements provide context for technicians in the field and create a record for billing, compliance, and customer communication.
Adding Content from the Web Application
- Navigate to Work Orders and select a work order.
- Click the Activity tab.
- Select Add Note, Upload Photo, or Attach File from the toolbar.
Notes support rich text formatting. Photos are compressed automatically; file attachments support PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, and image formats up to 25MB.
Adding Content from the Mobile App
Technicians capture documentation during job execution:
- Open the work order from the Jobs list.
- Tap the + icon in the activity feed.
- Choose Photo to launch the camera, Note for text entry, or File to select from device storage.
Photos taken in the mobile app are stamped with date, time, and GPS coordinates when location services are enabled. See Capturing Photos and Signatures in the Field for configuration details.

Photo Requirements and Annotations
Administrators may configure required photo categories per service type (e.g., "Before," "After," "Serial Number Plate"). When configured, technicians cannot complete the work order until all required photos are captured.
Tap any photo in the mobile app to add annotations using the built-in markup tools.
Sync Behavior
Content created offline queues for upload on reconnection. Photos upload in background; large files may require Wi-Fi depending on Mobile Data Settings configuration. See Using FieldPulse Offline and Syncing Data When You Reconnect.
