Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an additional layer of security to your FieldPulse account by requiring a verification code from a secondary device when signing in. This article describes how to enable 2FA for individual users and how administrators can mandate it organization-wide.
Prerequisites
- Account Owner or Administrator role (for organization-wide settings)
- Access to an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy recommended)
Enabling 2FA for Your Account
- Sign in to FieldPulse and navigate to Settings > Security.
- Locate the Two-Factor Authentication section.
- Select Enable 2FA.
- Scan the displayed QR code with your authenticator app.
- Enter the six-digit verification code generated by your app to confirm.
- Save your recovery codes in a secure location. These are required if you lose access to your authenticator device.
Mandating 2FA Organization-Wide
Administrators may require all users to enable 2FA before accessing FieldPulse.
- Navigate to Admin > Security Settings.
- Toggle Require Two-Factor Authentication to On.
- Select whether to allow a grace period (24–72 hours) for existing users to enroll.
- Save changes. Users will be prompted to configure 2FA at their next sign-in.
Recovery and Account Lockout
If a user loses access to their authenticator device and recovery codes, an Administrator must manually reset 2FA from Admin > Users. The user will be prompted to re-enroll at next sign-in.
